Advanced lighting theory and cool special effects tricks

This is a fee based class of $35.00 and being taught by Jim Sykes

For those of you who are comfortable with the basics of lighting technique, consider yourself to be an intermediate to advanced level photographer, and are ready to step it up to the next level I am offering a special class devoted to advanced principles and techniques. This will be an intense and interesting session of education and demonstrations.

You will learn the reality of how light behaves and how it is recorded during an exposure and discover that things don’t always work the way you think. I will dispel some myths and falsehoods that are too often passed on to others by well-meaning but misinformed photographers. I will teach you the circumstances where many of the “laws” and “rules” regarding light and exposure don’t actually hold up in the real world.

I will show you how to use this knowledge to handle some tricky situations and will show you how to do some unusual things with light and create some slick special effects as well.

I will warn you in advance that there will be some pretty heavy theory discussion but it will be accompanied by examples and demonstrations. It’s my firm belief that as a photographer you aren’t properly equipped to solve problems or be really creative with light unless you have a firm grasp of the way things actually work in the real world. My goal is to bring advanced theories and techniques within the grasp of the intermediate user.

If you have ever attended any of my classes or workshops you know I like to explain things in-depth and strive to explain them in a way that is easily understandable. That said, this will be the lengthiest and most in-depth presentation that I have done to date on any subject. Be prepared to learn a lot!
